World Cup Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is Missouri Missouri Statute 311.2026?
Missouri Statute 311.2026 temporarily extends liquor sales hours during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The bill allows licensed establishments to stay open 24 hours a day and sell alcohol between the hours of 5am and 6am the following day.
When is the bill active?
While the bill passed the house successfully, the bill is only active law from June 11th, 2026 to July 19th, 2026, meaning businesses that choose to participate can only alter their hours and sales between those dates.
Is the bill valid in any part of Missouri?
Yes. Any county in Missouri can participate. However, local governments can choose to opt out of the temporary change. Call your local city hall if you are unsure about your municipality.
Can any store with a liquor license participate?
Any establishment that holds a primary by-the-drink liquor license can participate, as long as their presiding county is participating. But know it is not mandatory to participate, your business, your rules!
What can you do to prepare?
- Know that you do not have to participate! While this is allowable, it is not mandatory; you can choose to opt out and run your normal business hours! (your employees may appreciate this anyways!)
- Use SMART to train your employees on how to responsibly sell alcohol in a way that protects your business from liability issues like underage drinkers, over-serving, and fake IDs, and your customers from over-consumption, and potential DUIs.
- SMART is free, available on mobile and desktop, and operates 24/7 for your and your employees’ convenience.
