It is also a time to recognize the power of community, connection, and support in helping people heal and flourish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br>What Is National Recovery Month?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in 1989, National Recovery Month is an annual observance held every September to promote and support new evidence-based treatments and recovery practices, celebrate the progress of people in recovery, and acknowledge the dedicated service providers who help make recovery a reality for many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This month is about&nbsp;<em>hope<\/em>. It is about reminding people that recovery is not only possible \u2014 it is happening every day, in every community. It is about compassionately reminding that each individual deserves the chance to live a healthy, meaningful life, free from stigma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How Can I Show Up for Recovery Month?<br><\/strong>There is no one \u201cright\u201d way to honor Recovery Month. Recovery is not one-size-fits-all.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Read or share stories of recovery that inspire hope and reduce stigma.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Talk openly about mental health and substance use \u2014 conversation creates hope and connection while decreasing stigma.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Attend or Host an Event<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in a local Recovery Month event like a walk, rally, or panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Host a recovery-friendly gathering, event, or discussion group.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shine a light \u2014 literally or figuratively \u2014 by honoring lives in recovery with candles, art, or affirmations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Support Someone in Recovery<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Reach out to someone you care about.
