The Missouri Show Me Tobacco Retailer Training was developed through a partnership between Missouri Partners in Prevention and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services as a FREE program for owners, managers, and clerks of establishments that sell tobacco and nicotine products. It is meant to provide the necessary tools and information so that these individuals can be in compliance with federal, state, and local laws/ordinances. Additionally, the program provides insight into how the tobacco retail environment can help protect young people from addiction and disease.
Benefits of the program include:
- Learning the importance of addressing youth tobacco use in the retail environment;
- Overview of federal, state, and local laws/ordinances;
- Understanding the various agencies responsible for regulation and enforcement of the tobacco industry; and
- Assistance in the detection of false identification.
Overall, the web-based training program should take around 1-hour to complete but provides valuable insight to those working in establishments that sell tobacco and nicotine products to aid in their compliance. The Missouri Show Me Tobacco Retailer Training can be found at https://www.showmetobacco.education and is available as a free service to aid in retailer compliance efforts.
